Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had a telephonic conversation with US President Donald Trump, congratulating him on the success of the “historic Gaza peace plan,” which aims to establish a roadmap for a truce between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, effectively ending the two-year-long conflict in Gaza.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote, “Spoke to my friend, President Trump and congratulated him on the success of the historic Gaza peace plan. Also reviewed the good progress achieved in trade negotiations. Agreed to stay in close touch over the coming weeks (sic),” tagging the official handles of the US President and Donald Trump.
The Prime Minister also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, commending him on the progress made under President Trump’s initiative. Modi welcomed the agreement on the release of hostages and the enhancement of humanitarian aid to Gaza, reiterating that “terrorism in any form or manifestation is unacceptable anywhere in the world.”
Both leaders are said to have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing bilateral trade discussions between India and the United States, which had earlier been impacted by tariff-related disputes.
