In a significant development in the investigation into the death of singer Zubeen Garg, two of his personal security officers (PSOs), Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya, have been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). This comes after four consecutive days of questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the matter.
The two PSOs were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) today, where the SIT sought a 14-day custody to continue its investigation. The arrests follow their suspension on October 7 over allegations of serious financial irregularities, with the CID investigating complaints of financial misconduct linked to the late singer’s accounts.
Sources indicate that the SIT uncovered evidence of transactions worth several crores associated with their accounts. Preliminary findings suggest that approximately Rs 70 lakh was transacted through Nandeshwar Bora’s account, while around Rs 40 lakh was linked to Paresh Baishya’s account, reportedly via digital payment channels. With these arrests, the total number of people detained in connection with the probe has risen to six.
