India and Afghanistan reaffirmed their resolve to combat terrorism and strengthen bilateral relations after Kabul strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack.

India and Afghanistan have reiterated their firm commitment to counter terrorism in all its forms and strengthen their bilateral relationship following the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The reaffirmation came after Kabul expressed solidarity with New Delhi and strongly condemned the attack, calling it an act aimed at destabilizing peace and harmony in the region.

In a joint statement, officials from both countries emphasized the need for collective global action against terrorism and extremist networks operating across borders. They agreed that terrorism poses a serious threat not only to national security but also to regional peace, development, and human rights.

Afghanistan’s interim government extended condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated its commitment to ensuring that Afghan soil is not used for activities that threaten neighboring countries. India, in turn, welcomed Kabul’s stance and stressed the importance of continued cooperation in intelligence sharing, counterterrorism operations, and border security coordination.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi noted that the two nations share a long-standing partnership rooted in historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties. Both sides also reviewed their ongoing humanitarian and developmental collaboration, reaffirming efforts to support stability and reconstruction in Afghanistan.

Officials added that the renewed anti-terror consensus between India and Afghanistan is a crucial step in strengthening mutual trust and ensuring peace across South Asia.
