A coroner’s inquiry has been initiated in Singapore to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who passed away during a yacht outing on September 19. The move signals that authorities are examining whether the death involved any unlawful act, omission, or other suspicious circumstances.

Responding to media queries about the nature of Garg’s death—an issue that has generated widespread speculation in Assam—Dr. Shijia Chan, consultant forensic pathologist with Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority and issuer of Garg’s death certificate, confirmed, “The case has been made a coroner’s case and is undergoing police investigations in Singapore.”
