Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli made a remarkable comeback in the third ODI against Australia in Sydney, scoring his 75th One Day International half-century. This innings came after back-to-back ducks in the first two matches, reaffirming Kohli’s resilience and class on the international stage.
In the same match, Kohli achieved another significant milestone by surpassing the 54-run mark, bringing his career tally to 14,235 runs in 305 ODI matches. This feat makes him the second-highest run-scorer in ODI history, surpassing Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, who scored 14,234 runs in 404 matches.
Despite Kohli’s achievement, the record for the highest ODI run-scorer still belongs to Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, who amassed 18,426 runs in 463 matches. Among active cricketers, Rohit Sharma follows Kohli, ranking tenth with 11,310 ODI runs.
