Cyclone Montha is expected to make a landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast near Kakinada, between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam.

Cyclone Montha is expected to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast on the evening or night of October 28, with wind speeds likely to reach 90–100 kmph. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alerts for Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry as the system continues to move northwestward across the Bay of Bengal.

Over the past six hours, the weather disturbance has intensified into a deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal. Meteorologists predict that it will strengthen into a cyclonic storm by Monday morning (October 27) and further into a severe cyclonic storm by October 28 (Tuesday), as it approaches the eastern coastline.

Authorities in the coastal states have been advised to stay on high alert, with disaster management teams preparing for potential heavy rainfall, flooding, and high sea conditions. Fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea, and residents in low-lying areas are urged to remain vigilant as Cyclone Montha moves closer to land.
