US President Donald Trump has hinted that a trade agreement between India and the United States could be finalised soon, while expressing strong admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at an event in South Korea, Trump said he has “great respect” for Modi, describing him as “a great leader” and “a very tough man who loves his country deeply.” He added that discussions on trade are progressing well and that an agreement “may be coming soon.”
The remarks come as both nations continue efforts to strengthen bilateral economic ties and expand cooperation in sectors such as technology, defence, and clean energy.
Trump, who has previously lauded India’s growth and strategic importance, said he looks forward to enhancing trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
Officials from both sides have yet to release specific details about the potential trade framework or timeline for its announcement.
