An encounter between security forces and militants in Manipur’s Churachandpur district resulted in the death of four members of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) early Tuesday, November 4, morning. The operation was launched around 5:30 am at Khanpi village under Henglep sub-division after security personnel received specific intelligence about the presence of armed militants.
During the ensuing gunfight, four militants belonging to the UKNA—a banned outfit that has not signed the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with the Centre or the Manipur government—were neutralized. Unlike several other Kuki–Zomi militant groups that are part of the ceasefire arrangement, UKNA remains outside any peace accord and continues to operate independently.
Following the encounter, security forces cordoned off the entire area to verify the absence of additional threats. Reinforcements were deployed to maintain control and prevent any escalation. Officials stated that while the situation remains tense, it is currently under control.
