At least 10 people have been killed and several others injured after an explosion was reported near Red Fort. A high alert has been sounded in Delhi

A powerful explosion near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort in central Delhi on Monday, November 10, has left at least 10 people dead and several others injured, officials said. The blast occurred around 6:52 pm, close to the Red Fort Metro Station, sending panic through the busy area crowded with tourists and street vendors.

Fire tenders, Delhi Police, and teams from the NDRF were immediately rushed to the site. The injured have been admitted to Lok Nayak and LNJP hospitals, where several are reported to be in critical condition.

Senior officials from the Delhi Police and the MHA are on the ground. The area has been cordoned off for forensic examination, and a detailed investigation has been initiated.

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora said, “We are treating this as a high-priority incident. The cause of the explosion is being determined, and all angles — including sabotage — are being investigated.”

Traffic movement around Chandni Chowk, Daryaganj, and Red Fort Road has been diverted, resulting in heavy congestion across central Delhi.

The Home Ministry has sought a detailed report from the Delhi Police and intelligence agencies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, taking cognisance of the incident.

Following the conversation, Shah held discussions with Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and remains in continuous touch with the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director to monitor developments.

In addition to the NIA, a team from the NSG has been deployed to the Red Fort to assist in assessing the nature and source of the explosion. Following the incident, security agencies have issued a high alert across the National Capital Region (NCR).
