The BJP has planned large-scale celebrations on November 16 to mark its sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly Elections

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has swept the Bihar Assembly elections, registering a decisive mandate that has surpassed all expectations. According to the Election Commission, results for 147 seats have been declared so far, with the NDA winning 125 seats, the Mahagathbandhan securing 17 seats, and the AIMIM clinching 5 seats. Counting is still underway on the remaining seats.

The BJP has announced statewide celebrations on November 16, with victory events planned at all district headquarters. Party leaders and workers are expected to take part as the alliance marks one of its most commanding electoral performances in the state.

Addressing supporters at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, PM Narendra Modi said that the people of Bihar had “voted for a developed and prosperous state by breaking all records.” He attributed the win to the NDA’s resonance with what he called the MY formula – Mahila and Youth. “In Bihar, some people had created an MY (Muslim-Yadav) formula based on appeasement. Today’s victory has introduced a new positive MY formula – Mahila (women) and Youth,” the PM said.

PM Modi also reiterated themes from his campaign, stating, “When I spoke about jungle raj and kattas, the RJD never opposed it – only Congress was hurt… Katta sarkar will never be back.”

According to updated Election Commission data, the NDA has already crossed the majority mark, winning 128 seats and leading in 78 others, placing the alliance well past the numbers needed to form the government.

While exit polls had indicated an NDA win, few anticipated the scale of the triumph. The alliance hovered around the 190–200 seat mark for most of the counting process, signalling one of the most significant mandates in Bihar’s recent political history.
