Cyclone Ditwah formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal and is moving toward the north Tamil Nadu–Puducherry–south Andhra Pradesh coasts.

A pre-cyclone alert was issued as Cyclone Ditwah advanced toward the north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh coasts. The system developed from a deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal earlier in the day, forming near Pottuvil in Sri Lanka—around 90 km south-southeast of Batticaloa and nearly 700 km from Chennai.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone is expected to track north-northwest and reach the seas off the Tamil Nadu–Puducherry–south Andhra coastline by early November 30. In contrast, the remnants of Cyclone Senyar continued moving eastward over the Strait of Malacca and weakened into a depression.

Cyclonic Storm Ditwah currently lies over coastal Sri Lanka and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal, moving at about 13 kmph. As of 5.30 pm, it was positioned close to Batticaloa and several hundred kilometres from Puducherry and Chennai. Officials from the Regional Meteorological Centre have warned of strong winds, heavy rainfall, and hazardous sea conditions over the coming days.
