Zubeen Garg, 52, passed away in Singapore on September 19, 2025, after a tragic swimming accident during a yacht trip.

A massive crowd of fans gathered across Guwahati on Sunday, September 21, to bid a tearful farewell to legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. Thousands thronged the streets and roads, paying tribute to the icon whose music and persona had touched millions across the state and beyond.

The mortal remains of Zubeen Garg were brought from Delhi to Guwahati earlier in the day and were later taken to his residence in Kalihipara. Fans lined the streets along the route, holding flowers, banners, and placards while singing his popular songs in homage. Emotional scenes were witnessed throughout the city as admirers expressed their grief and love for the late superstar.

Authorities had made arrangements to manage the large crowds, ensuring smooth passage of the procession. The last rites of Zubeen Garg are scheduled to be performed in Sonapur at Hatimura in Kamarkuchi, as per the wishes of his family. Preparations are underway at the site to accommodate mourners while maintaining safety and order.
