Russian President Vladimir Putin met with India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval at the Kremlin.
During the high-level bilateral security talks in Moscow, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to a “strategic partnership.” The meeting came just one day after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a sharp increase in tariffs on Indian imports, raising duties by an additional 25%, bringing the total to 50%. The move is part of Washington’s broader response to New Delhi’s continued purchases of Russian oil.
The U.S. has also warned of potential secondary sanctions on countries that continue to buy Russian crude unless Moscow agrees to end its war in Ukraine, which is now entering its fourth year, by Friday.
