West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell on Sunday, November 30, announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL), ahead of the mini auction scheduled for December 16. Russell, who played 12 seasons in the IPL, expressed his gratitude to the league and fans, saying, “Hanging up my IPL boots… but not the swagger. What a ride it’s been — 12 seasons of memories, and a whole lot of love from the KKR family.”
The 37-year-old all-rounder had a stellar IPL career with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), making 133 appearances since joining the franchise in 2014. He played a key role in KKR’s title-winning campaigns in 2014 and 2024 and became one of the team’s most influential players.
Russell also revealed that he would continue his association with KKR in a new capacity, serving as the franchise’s power coach for the 2026 season. “And the best part? I’m not leaving home… you’ll see me in a new role, in KKR’s Support Staff, as the POWER COACH of 2026,” he added.
