Anthony Albanese has married his partner of five years, Jodie Haydon, at a ceremony at the prime minister's official residence in Canberra.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese married his long-time partner, Jodie Haydon, in an intimate ceremony held at the Lodge in Canberra, becoming the first sitting Australian leader to wed while in office. The afternoon ceremony was attended by close family members and friends, including Albanese’s son Nathan and Haydon’s parents. Moments after the wedding, the Prime Minister shared a video of the couple walking down the aisle.

The ceremony featured personal touches, with the pair exchanging vows they had written themselves. Haydon was escorted by her parents to Ben Folds’ “The Luckiest,” wearing a custom gown by Sydney label Romance Was Born, while Albanese wore a suit by MJ Bale. The event also included a flower girl—Haydon’s five-year-old niece—and their dog Toto, who served as the ring bearer. Witnesses included Haydon’s brother Patrick and Albanese’s cousin Helen Golden.

Held privately and funded by the couple, the wedding followed the final parliamentary sitting day for 2025 and came six months after Albanese secured re-election. Among the attendees were several key political figures, including Treasurer Jim Chalmers, Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Finance Minister Katy Gallagher, ALP National Secretary Paul Erickson, and the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, Tim Gartrell.
