The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed strong objections to the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) decision to host its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Dhaka. According to reports, the BCCI has warned that it will boycott any resolutions passed if the meeting proceeds at the scheduled venue.
The AGM is slated for July 24 in Dhaka, but growing concerns over the current situation in Bangladesh have prompted India to decline participation. Reports claim that ACC Chairman and Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is “unnecessarily pressuring” India by pushing ahead with the meeting in Dhaka, despite requests to change the venue.
India, the designated host of this year’s Asia Cup – a six-team T20 tournament – finds the event’s future uncertain. Neither a venue nor schedule has been officially announced, although September is widely speculated as the intended window. India is also the defending champion of the tournament.
Earlier this year, the BCCI and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) mutually agreed to postpone India’s scheduled tour of Bangladesh from August 2025 to September 2026, citing regional tensions.
