In light of the forthcoming Panchayat Elections, the Assam State School Education Board, Division-II (formerly known as AHSEC), has declared the cancellation of the remaining HS First Year Examinations for 2025. This decision, made during a board meeting on April 4, 2025, is due to the involvement of teachers in election-related responsibilities, which renders it impractical to hold the outstanding examinations.
The notification indicates that the election process is set to continue until May 20, 2025, as determined by the State Election Commission. The board has determined that conducting the remaining examinations either prior to or following the elections would pose significant logistical difficulties, as teachers will be engaged in election-related activities such as preparations, training, polling responsibilities, and vote counting. To facilitate an alternative method of academic assessment, the board has decided to cancel the remaining exams.
The board has determined that all candidates who participated in the subjects assessed in March 2025 will qualify to take the HS Final Examination in 2026, aiming to lessen the effects on students.
Furthermore, it confirmed that the Class XI examination serves mainly as a school-based evaluation. To ensure consistency and assist students in their preparation for the HS Final Examination, the board has standardized the question papers for the last eight years.
