Assam Bodoland Territorial Council Election result 2025

The Hagrama Mohilary-led Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has achieved a landslide victory in the 2025 Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections by winning 28 out of 40 seats, positioning itself to form the next council. According to the Assam State Election Commission, the Pramod Boro-led United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) secured 7 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to win 5 seats.

The Indian National Congress failed to win any seats in this election. The vote counting for the BTC election was conducted on September 26 amid tight security. TMC leader Sushmita Dev described the results as a clear mandate against the BJP-led state government in Assam, reflecting a public rejection of divisive politics. She expressed gratitude towards the Trinamool Congress candidates, workers, and voters for a strong showing in the region.

In the previous BTC election held in 2020, the UPPL and BJP had formed an alliance and jointly governed the council, with UPPL’s Pramod Boro taking oath as Chief Executive Member. The present election saw a total of 316 candidates contesting across five districts in the Bodoland Territorial Region: Kokrajhar, Chirang, Udalguri, Baksa, and Tamulpur. Kokrajhar district itself contains 12 constituencies with 100 candidates in the fray.
