In a heartfelt move, the Assam Government has announced that its entire share of State GST revenue from the blockbuster film ‘Roi Roi Binale’ will be donated to the Kalaguru Foundation, established in memory of the late musical icon Zubeen Garg. The decision has been widely hailed as a fitting tribute to the legendary artist’s enduring legacy.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that while films generate both Central and State GST, Assam will contribute its full State share to the foundation as a mark of respect for Zubeen Garg’s immense contribution to Assamese music and cinema. He further clarified that Assam has no separate Entertainment Tax, making this gesture a purely symbolic and emotional tribute.
