The Election Commission on Wednesday, April 2, announced the dates of the Panchayat polls in Assam. It will be held in two phases, i.e., on May 2 and May 7.
The counting of the votes will take place on May 11, according to Alok Kumar, State Election Commissioner, Assam, said.
Elections in the first phase on May 2 will be held in upper Assam districts and the Barak Valley, voting in the second phase on May 7 will be held in lower Assam districts.
The polls will be held using ballot paper, the State Election Commissioner further added.
