The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially ended its jersey sponsorship agreement with fantasy sports platform Dream11 following the enactment of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, which bans real-money online gaming.
The ₹358 crore partnership, signed in 2023 for three years, has been cut short as Dream11 informed BCCI it could no longer continue under the new legal framework. The legislation prohibits money-based online games, related advertisements, and associated financial transactions, dealing a major blow to companies in the sector.
Confirming the development, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the board would not engage with such organisations in the future, citing full compliance with the new law.
The termination leaves the Indian cricket team without a title sponsor just ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup, forcing BCCI to quickly scout for replacements.
Industry experts estimate the board could face a significant revenue shortfall, though officials are confident a new partner will be onboarded soon.
