India’s cricket board has given a 48-hour deadline for the trophy of the 2025 Asia Cup to be handed over by Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the silverware remains under Naqvi’s custody despite India clinching the title last month, and stressed that it expects the trophy to reach its headquarters in Mumbai imminently.
The board’s secretary, Devajit Saikia, emphasised that if the hand-over is not completed within the stipulated timeframe, the matter will be escalated at the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting scheduled for November 4 in Dubai.
The BCCI described its pursuit as “fully prepared” for any outcome and reiterated its confidence that the trophy will ultimately return to India. Meanwhile, Naqvi has maintained that he will personally present the trophy to the Indian team, adding a further twist to the high-stakes dispute.
