BJP announces alliance with AIADMK in Tamil Nadu ahead of 2026 elections, EPS to be CM candidate

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday, April 11, announced a significant political development, confirming that the BJP and AIADMK will contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections together as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

He stated that the alliance will operate under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi at the national level and AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) at the state level.

Highlighting the strength of the partnership, Shah emphasized that the AIADMK has not placed any conditions or demands and that the BJP will not interfere in the internal affairs of the AIADMK. “This alliance will prove to be beneficial for both the NDA and the AIADMK,” he added.

Targeting the ruling DMK government, Shah accused it of widespread corruption. “In the upcoming elections, people will vote against the DMK’s record – its failure on law and order, and the atrocities against Dalits and women,” he said.

He also alleged the DMK was involved in multiple scams, including a Rs 39,000 crore liquor scam, sand mining scam, energy scam, ELCOT scam, transport scam, and money laundering. “The people of Tamil Nadu want answers from Udhayanidhi and Chief Minister Stalin,” Shah declared.
