13 Indian breads including Butter garlic naan, Bhatura, Amritsari kulcha and more bagged spots on the list of 'Top 100 Breads in the World' by TasteAtlas

India is known for its wide variety of delicious dishes, and recently, several Indian breads made it to Taste Atlas’ list of the ’50 Best Breads in the World’. Notably, Butter Garlic Naan claimed the top spot. The list also features other breads from different countries.

Butter Garlic Naan topped the chart with a rating of 4.7 on TasteAtlas. The website describes it as “a traditional flatbread and one of the most popular versions of naan. It’s made with flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and dahi. After being baked in a hot tandoor oven, the golden naan is taken out, brushed with butter or ghee, and topped with minced garlic.”

TasteAtlas recommends pairing Butter Garlic Naan with various Indian dishes, including curries, butter chicken, dal makhani, malai kofta, or shahi paneer.

Amritsari Kulcha, a favourite among many, secured the second spot, while Parotta from South India ranked sixth. Other Indian breads making the list include Naan at eighth, Paratha at 18th, and Bhatura at 26th. Aloo Naan came in at 28th, and the ever-popular Roti placed 35th. Other notable entries include Aloo Paratha at 71st, Laccha Paratha with its flaky, multi-layered texture at 75th, Cheese/Paneer Naan at 78th, Rumali Roti, an extremely thin flatbread, at 84th, and Puri, a deep-fried unleavened bread, at 99th.
