A powerful explosion ripped through the parking area of a district court in Islamabad on Tuesday, November 11, killing at least 12 people and injuring over a dozen others, according to local officials.
The blast, which originated from a parked car, occurred during peak hours when the court premises were crowded. Several nearby vehicles were damaged in the explosion. Security personnel immediately cordoned off the area, and rescue teams rushed the injured to nearby hospitals.
While initial reports suggest the explosion may have been caused by a gas cylinder, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a terror attack. The Islamabad Police and bomb disposal units are currently investigating the cause of the blast.
The incident comes amid heightened security alerts across Pakistan following a series of militant attacks in recent weeks. No group has claimed responsibility so far.
