Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra

A case has been registered against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra in Chhattisgarh over her controversial remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The FIR, filed at Mana Camp Police Station in Raipur, was based on a complaint by local resident Gopal Samanto, who alleged that her statement insulted democratic institutions, incited hatred, and threatened national unity.

The controversy erupted after Moitra, while addressing reporters in Nadia district, West Bengal, said that Amit Shah’s “head should be chopped off and put on the table” for failing to prevent the infiltration of illegal Bangladeshis into India. Her comments quickly drew widespread criticism and sparked political uproar.

Moitra argued that border security is the direct responsibility of the Union Home Ministry, accusing Shah of shifting blame onto the Trinamool government. The issue of illegal infiltration has become a politically charged subject in West Bengal, especially with the 2026 Assembly elections on the horizon.
