The Centre held a meeting with representatives of Manipur’s warring Meitei and Kuki communities, in an effort to bring a lasting peace in the restive state

The Centre on Saturday, April 5, convened a meeting with delegates from the conflicting Meitei and Kuki communities of Manipur, aiming to establish enduring peace in the troubled state.

The meeting took place as part of the central government’s efforts to seek a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict between the two communities that started in May 2023.

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen trust and collaboration between the Meiteis and Kukis, as well as to develop a strategy for reinstating peace and stability in Manipur.

The conversations emphasized the importance of upholding law and order while promoting reconciliation between the two communities, according to their statements.

A six-member delegation from the Meitei community, which included representatives from the All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) and the Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), participated in the meeting.
