Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “centuries-old wounds are healing today” as he ceremonially hoisted the saffron flag atop the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, marking the completion of the much-awaited structure in Ayodhya. The event, known as the “Dhwajarohan” ceremony, was attended by dignitaries, including UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, along with thousands of devotees.
The saffron flag, emblazoned with the Sun, the sacred syllable ‘Om’, and the Kovidara tree, symbolizes divinity, valor, and faith. Modi offered prayers at the temple’s Sapt Mandir and Garbh Grah before the flag-hoisting, calling the moment a “renaissance of Indian civilization.”
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the ceremony as the beginning of a new era for Ayodhya and the nation, while devotees thronged the streets, which were brightly decorated and filled with devotional music.
Security in the temple town was tightened, with traffic restrictions in place as the event drew national attention. The completion of the temple not only marks a major religious milestone but also positions Ayodhya as a central hub for cultural and spiritual activities in India.
The PM’s remarks and the Dhwajarohan ceremony are seen as a symbolic closure to centuries of historical disputes surrounding the site, highlighting a moment of spiritual unity and national significance.
