The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address, describing it as a bold and visionary roadmap towards achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. CII President Rajiv Memani commended the Prime Minister’s focus on self-reliance, innovation, and citizen empowerment, noting that the speech underscored India’s rise as a confident, technologically advanced, and economically resilient nation.
Memani particularly welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement of next-generation GST reforms, which were described as a “Diwali gift” for citizens and businesses alike. He highlighted that these reforms carry the potential to streamline the taxation system, making it more efficient, transparent, and easier to comply with.
According to CII, the reforms will not only reduce the tax burden but also improve ease of doing business, stimulate domestic consumption, and encourage greater investments into India’s growth story. The industry body expressed optimism that such measures will accelerate the country’s economic transformation and strengthen its global competitiveness.
