Monsoon fury continues to batter Uttarakhand, with cloudbursts reported in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts on Friday, August 29. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed that some families are feared trapped under debris, and rescue operations have been launched to save them.
The Chief Minister said he is in constant touch with district officials and has directed the disaster management secretary and district magistrates to ensure rescue and relief efforts are carried out swiftly and effectively. Teams are working on a war footing to respond to the situation.
In a post on ‘X’, Dhami shared that cloudbursts occurred in the Bareth Dungar Tok area of Rudraprayag’s Buskedar tehsil and in the Deval area of Chamoli district, leading to debris flow that trapped families. Expressing concern, he prayed to Baba Kedar for the safety and well-being of all affected.
