The BJP has taken a strong objection of the remark stating the statement is a proof of how TMC is not letting Bengal develop with its violent mindset.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra has sparked a major political controversy with her sharp attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Speaking at a public event in Krishnanagar, she said that if Shah fails to stop infiltration across India’s borders, his head should be cut off and placed on the Prime Minister’s table.”

The remark triggered immediate outrage from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which condemned the statement as “hate speech” and filed a police complaint in Nadia district. BJP leaders accused Moitra of crossing all limits of political discourse and described her comment as reflective of the TMC’s “violent mindset.”

National spokespersons of the BJP said such rhetoric was “disgusting and disgraceful” and demanded strict action.

Moitra’s statement came while addressing concerns over illegal immigration, where she alleged that border security—under the Home Ministry—had failed to deliver. The controversy is expected to escalate further as opposition parties demand accountability over her remarks.
