Zaki Anwari, an Afghan national footballer died in a fall from a US plane at Kabul airport on Monday.
As per the news agency, Ariana, Anwari fell from a USAF Boeing C-17 and his death has been confirmed by the General Directorate of Sport.
Anwari was one of the thousands of Afghans who were trying to flee the country on Monday after the Taliban took control of the Afghan capital, Kabul. He reportedly climbed into the C-17 plane that was about to depart from the Hamid Karzai International Airport.
As per reports, Anwari's remains were said to be found aboard the plane after it dashed to escape the advancing Taliban while carrying hundreds of Afghans.
The video of thousands of people rushing towards the US Air Force jet as it took off from the runway went viral. While some managed to hang on the wheels of the flight, others sat on the wings only to fall to their deaths from the sky.
