Tokyo Olympics Star Lovlina Borgohain Features On Cover Of VOGUE’s Latest Edition
VOGUE
India featured Pride of Assam Lovlina Borgohain along with Mirabai Chanu and PV Sindhu on the cover, dedicating its 14th-anniversary issue to the women
athletes at Tokyo Games.
India
recorded its best-ever haul at the Olympics with seven medals — one gold, two
silver and four bronze and displayed outstanding performances at the Games this
year, among which nearly 49% of the
athletes were female.
While weightlifter
Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal in the 49kg category, badminton
player PV Sindhu and pugilist Lovlina Borgohain bagged the bronze medal.
The
trio graced the cover of the latest edition of the leading fashion magazine.
Sharing
the picture of Borgohain, VOGUE India tweeted, “Determined to defy the odds,
@LovlinaBorgohai’s bronze success at the Tokyo Olympics is not just a story of
resilience but one of grit that every girl can aspire to. Read to see more
about our October 2021 cover stars.”
It may
be mentioned that the Olympics were held behind closed doors this year due to
COVID-19 induced restrictions and about 11,000 athletes from over 200 countries
competed in the Tokyo Olympics.
