• Five Newly-Elected MLAs Take Oath In Assam Legislative Assembly

    The result of Assam Bypolls was declared on November 2.

    The newly-elected MLAs of the Assam Legislative Assembly took oath on Thursday.

    A total of five MLAs were elected in the bypolls of five constituencies, conducted on October 30, of which the results were declared on November 2.

    The swearing-in ceremony will be held in Assam Legislative Assembly where Speaker Biswajit Daimary will administer the oath to the newly-elected MLAs.

    The five MLAs, who were elected are Sushanta Borgohain from Thowra constituency, Rupjyoti Kurmi from Mariani, Phani Talukdar from Bhabanipur, Jiron Basumatary from Gossaigaon constituency and Jolen Daimary from Tamulpur constituency.

    It is to be mentioned that three MLAs Sushanta Borgohain, Rupjyoti Kurmi and Phani Talukdar switched to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Congress and AIUDF, few months before the bypolls.
