An Indian Army colonel, his wife and son, and at least three other soldiers have been killed by terrorists in a reported ambush in Manipur.
According to reports, the ambush took place near the Myanmar border in the Churachandpur district of Manipur around 10 am today. The convoy of Assam Rifles was ambushed by a group of unknown terrorists at the Singhat sub-division, as per reports.
The colonel was travelling with his family and a Quick Reaction Team when the ambush occurred.
Reportedly, the officer's wife, son and five soldiers died on the spot.
Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh took to Twitter to announce the news of the attack and strongly condemned the act. He said that such a cowardly act will not be neglected and will do his best to punish the culprits.
