After Punjab, another Congress-ruled state is set to see a major Cabinet reshuffle. As many as 15 ministers—11 cabinet ministers and four ministers of state—will be sworn-in on Sunday as the new Cabinet will be inducted by Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot.
The reshuffle is a move by Congress to ease tension between the senior leaders of the party Gehlot and Sachin Pilot.
In the reshuffle, the new cabinet of the State will have 12 new faces, including five ministers from the Sachin Pilot camp. Pilot's "loyalists" MLAs Hemaram Choudhary, Murari Lal Meena, Zahida Khan, Rajendra Singh Gudha, and Brijendra Ola, will also be part of the cabinet of Ashok Gehlot.
Taking it to Twitter, the chief of Congress’ Rajasthan unit Govind Singh Dotasra shared the list of 15 MLAs and said that three ministers will be promoted to cabinet rank.
Dostara said, "Many many congratulations to all the new MLAs of Rajasthan cabinet and all the three ministers promoted from minister of state to cabinet minister.”
The Gehlot-led Congress government will have a total of 30 ministers, including 18 who had resigned earlier. Also, the new Rajasthan cabinet will have four Scheduled Caste (SC) members for the first time.
The oath-taking ceremony of new ministers is likely to begin around 4 pm.
It is to be mentioned that the ruling Congress has 102 MLAs in the 200-member Rajasthan assembly after it took away a seat from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recent by-polls.
