As Covid-19 positive cases are rising in Guwahati city, the Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration has identified several COVID hotspot zones and has accordingly asked the health department to speed up the testing process in these areas.

Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha said that the capital zone and east zone of Guwahati have reported the highest number of Covid-19 positive cases in the last few weeks. He further directed the officials to ramp up the testing process in these two areas.

Jha also directed the health department to increase the Covid-19 testing process in slum areas along with other parts of the district. He was attending a review meeting on Monday at the Deputy Commissioner's office in the city where he took stock of the coronavirus situation in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked the health department to test 10,000 people every day for the virus. "Covid testing and vaccination are the only way to reduce the risk of getting infected with the virus," he said.
