• Vir Das Loses International Emmy Awards 2021, Shares Pic Of Medal And ‘Fantastic Salad’

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was also part of the Netflix troupe at the awards ceremony

Actor-comedian Vir Das on Tuesday shared a picture of his nomination medal for the International Emmys Awards 2021 for his Netflix comedy special, Vir Das: For India, with a salad from the awards venue in New York City.

Das lost the prestigious award to France’s Call My Agent on Tuesday, following which he took to Twitter to share a picture from the award ceremony.

He shared a picture of a nomination medal and a bowl of salad from the ceremony and wrote, “I was nominated for best comedy at the International Emmy Awards, for jokes. Call My Agent, a beautiful show I love won. But I got this medal, and ate this fantastic salad. It was an honour to represent my country. Thanks so much to the @iemmys.”

The actor’s fans showered thousand of likes and comments on his post.

“While India honour our comedians with #FIR, cases and abuses, they making our country proud globally @thevirdas,” a fan wrote.

Das recently sparked controversy over his recent video on YouTube titled ‘I come from two Indias.' In the video, he described two contrasting aspects of India in a monologue at Washington's Kennedy Center saying, “Indian men worship women during the day and gang-rape them at night.”

Das issued a statement following all the criticism on the video on November 16.

“It ends in a gigantic patriotic round of applause for a country we all love, believe in, and are proud of. That there is more to our country than the headlines, a deep beauty. That's the point of the video and the reason for the applause,” he said.

It may be mentioned that actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was also part of the Netflix troupe at the awards ceremony. He was nominated for his role in Sudhir Mishra's Serious Men.
