• Mamata Banerjee Meets PM Modi, Discusses Tripura Violence

    West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee called on PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. The Trinamool Congress chief said she spoke to Modi on the Tripura violence. 

    "I have spoken about Tripura violence and atrocities. I have informed Modi about what’s happening there and how Saayoni was targeted," said Banerjee.

    Trinamool Youth Congress president Saayoni Ghosh was arrested on charges of criminal intimidation and an attempt to murder by the Tripura Police. She has been accused of disturbing a poll rally of State CM Biplab Kumar Deb. 

    She was later granted bail by the West Tripura Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s  Court for a bail bond of Rs 20,000. The Bengal CM also said that she took up the controversial extension of BSF jurisdiction's issues with Modi.

    Banerjee also mentioned that West Bengal is yet to get Rs 96,605 crore from the Centre for natural calamities that ravaged the State.
