Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Thursday announced to resume the anti-CAA movement once again in Assam.
Addressing a press meet in Guwahati, Gogoi said, “The anti-CAA movement will be resumed from December 11, 2021, in the state.”
He also urged the people of Assam and all the organizations in the state to join the movement.
"This time it will be a strong protest against the government. People have been getting positive results through protests in the country, so, I urge everyone to come out and participate in the movement," the AJP President added.
He further said that the anti-CAA protest stopped on March 22 due to the Covid situation in the state but now we will resume our anti-CAA demonstration.
Recently, Akhil Gogoi Independent MLA and president of Raijor Dal and advisor of KMSS also said that they are ready to restart the agitation against the CAA.
“We have seen that the nation is now going on the way of autocratic fascism. I think that the farmers’ movement was started to protect our constitution, our democracy and it is a historic movement of the country. I spent 1 year 7 months in jail for participating in the anti-CAA movement. The NIA had arrested me and my colleagues also. I think that the anti-CAA agitation should be restarted again, because this act is totally unconstitutional, against our democracy,” said Gogoi.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the people of the state are more interested in civilization protection than going out on the street again.
