Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, ruled out an apology by the 12 Opposition MPs, who were suspended from Rajya Sabha for the remainder of the Winter Session.

Earlier on Tuesday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said the government would be open to revoking the suspension of the MPs if they apologised to the Rajya Sabha chairman.

Following this, Gandhi replied in a tweet, “Apology for what? Raising the people’s issues in Parliament? Never!”

The Congress-led opposition also staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday to protest the suspension of 12 Opposition members of the Upper House with leaders saying they will continue to raise their voices on the matter.

Dismissing an apology, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said, “The government is trying to silence the voices of the Opposition. No question arises to offer an apology.”
