India and Russia on Monday signed a record 28 MoUs across a wide range of sectors including trade, energy, culture, intellectual property accountancy and education, informed Foreign Secretary Harsh V Shringla.
Shringla further informed that besides signing the 28 MoUs, India and Russia also signed a programme of cooperation in the field of defence for the next 10 years from 2021 to 2031.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the 21st India-Russia Summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in New Delhi on Monday. Modi said that the relation between India and Russia is truly a unique and reliable model of interstate friendship.
"Despite the challenges posed by Covid-19, there is no change in the pace of growth of India-Russia relations. Our special and privileged strategic partnership continues to become stronger," Modi said talking about the yeas long Indo-Russian ties.
He added, "Despite the everchanging international political landscape, the Indo-Russia relationship remained constant."
In response to PM Modi’s statements, Putin said, "Russia perceives India as a great power, a friendly nation, and a time-tested friend. The relations between our nations are growing and I am looking into the future."
