• Amarinder Singh Seals Alliance With BJP Ahead Of Punjab Assembly Polls

The alliance will definitely, 101 per cent win the elections: Amarinder Singh

Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today announced an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming assembly elections. This move was the most anticipated one after Singh quit the Congress party and formed his own - Punjab Lok Congress.

The announcement came in after Singh's meeting with the BJP leadership in New Delhi. He also tweeted photos hugging Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the BJP's Punjab in charge.

He tweeted, "Met union minister & @BJP4India incharge for Punjab, Shri @gssjodhpur in New Delhi today to chalk out future course of action ahead of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections. We have formally announced a seat adjustment with the BJP for the 2022 Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections."

He later told reporters that the alliance with the BJP is confirmed. "Only seat-sharing talks are going on. We will see who will contest where - our criteria for seat selection is purely winnability."

"The alliance will definitely, 101 per cent win the elections," he added.

On the other hand, Shekhawat revealed that after seven rounds of talks, the BJP and Punjab Lok Congress alliance is confirmed.
