Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain was seen in a different avatar as she walked the ramp at the ongoing ninth North East Festival in Guwahati on Saturday night. This was the boxer's debut on the ramp, and she dazzled in a red-coloured mekhela chador.
The ace pugilist was the showstopper for designer duo Bidyut & Rakesh's wedding collection. Lovlina looked resplendent in dark maroon mekhela chador of mulberry silk 'paat'.
The mekhela chador was adorned with rose gold zari work. She also flaunted a silk shawl with traditional Assamese embellishment.
The event was also attended by internationally acclaimed actor Adil Hussain, who is also from Assam. Lovlina said she thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Lovlina won a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the women's welterweight event, becoming only the third Indian boxer to win a medal at the Olympics.
She is the first female athlete and the second boxer from Assam to represent the state in the Olympics. In 2020, she became the sixth person from Assam to receive Arjuna Award.
