• Arunachal Pradesh Protest: Around 150 Nyishi Youths Arrested

    Mobile internet including wi-fi services suspended for 48-hours on Thursday

    Around 150 Nyishi youths in Arunachal Pradesh were arrested during the protest by the which is demanding chief minister Pema Khandu’s resignation on alleged corruption charges, as per reports.

    The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on Thursday had called for a 36-hour state ‘bandh’ demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister.

    The ANYA called for the strike after Khandu failed to respond to the charges that includes a multi-crore scandal in various departments of the State.

    Responding to this, the district administration of Itanagar on Wednesday ordered internet service providers to shut down “mobile internet including wi-fi services for 48 hours starting 5 pm and will continue till 5 pm on Friday.

    The association said it will soon launch the second phase of agitation as 48 hours’ bandh in the capital.

    Meanwhile, Khandu and his family are shifted to Tawang over security issues.
