Amid the drop in positivity rate of Covid-19 cases across the state, the Meghalaya government on Wednesday decided to lift a few restrictions with effect from February 11.

Taking it to Twitter, state Chief Minister Conrad Sangma informed that double vaccinated individuals will not require RT-PCR tests to enter the state.

He further said that all schools will reopen from February 14 except those in Shillong which will reopen only for Classes 1-5.

According to the new guidelines, the night curfew, imposed between 10 pm and 5 am at present, will now be lifted while the odd-even rule for private vehicles will continue.

The other guidelines stated that only double vaccinated people will be permitted in bars, restaurants, movie theatres.

“No prior permissions will be required for funerals and weddings, public gatherings will be permitted with prior permission from DCs & SDOs,” he added.

As the state government decided to lift some of the restrictions, the Chief Minister said, “We can’t let our guards down fully, but we will take precautions.”

“We also need to ease overall restrictions so that normalcy must return,” he added.
