The Assam government on Tuesday announced to launch the vaccination drive for the age group of 12–14-year children with the new vaccine Corbevax from March 16.
Aiming to vaccinate 13 lakh children in the state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will launch the vaccination on Wednesday.
Only the Corbevax vaccine, manufactured by Biological E Limited in Hyderabad, will be administered for the age group of 12 to 14 years. It has been included as the third vaccine against Covid-19 and will be available at all free vaccination centres.
Earlier on Monday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya took to Twitter to make the major announcement for the safety of the children and said that if they are safe the country is safe.
The Union Health Minister also informed that senior citizens aged 60 years and above will also get precaution doses from now onwards.
It is to be mentioned that the Covid-19 vaccinations for children between the age of 15 and 18 started on January 3, 2022.
