Paresh Ch. Deka, the Headmaster of Patidarrang Vidyapith High School in Mukundapur, Kamrup district of Assam has been suspended for allegedly sexually exploiting students of the school with immediate effect.
An order dated April 4, was issued by the Office of the Director of Secondary Education, Assam which said that Deka has been placed under suspension with immediate effect after departmental proceedings were initiated against him after complaints were received.
The order also mentioned that Deka will get a subsistence allowance as per the rule as admissible and he "shall not leave the headquarter without prior permission of the competent authority."
"Further, in the interest of public service, the Inspector of Schools, K.D.C. Amingaon District - Kamrup is hereby temporarily allowed to hold the charge of Headmaster of Patidarrang Vidyapith High School, District - Kamrup along with financial power as per provision of FR49(C) to draw and disburse salary etc. of staff of the school," the order read.
It may be mentioned, the accused had sent obscene texts and audio messages to students appearing matriculation exams and as evidence, the audio messages and texts were submitted at the time of the investigation of the case.
When the incident came to light, guardians and locals took out protests on March 31 for the arrest of Deka. An FIR was also registered against the Headmaster under Section 354(A), 509 and 106 IPC at the Baihata Chariali Police Station.
