• Ace Athlete Hima Das Takes Her First Dose of Covid-19 Vaccine

    Hima Das posted on social media of her getting the first dose of the vaccine and asked everyone to get vaccinated

    Ace athlete Hima Das on Thursday took her first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and urged the people to get vaccinated to fight the deadly virus.

    She wrote on Twitter, "Got first dose of Covid Vaccination. Get yourself vaccinated #Vaccination."

    Sprinter Hima Das was recently appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Assam government as she had made the State proud with her achievements in the national and international sporting arena. She was appointed under the Integrated Sports Policy of the State government.

    The decision to appoint Das was made by the State cabinet as part of the government's integrated sports policy to honour sportspersons, who win medals in international meets, with jobs in government departments.

    Das who is popularly known as the Dhing Express won a gold medal in 400 m at the IAAF U20 World Championships in the year 2018 as well as several other medals in Asian Games and other sports events.

    It was her dream since childhood that one day she will join the police force and this dream came true in the month of February. 

    She had won five gold medals in the year 2019 and won the fifth medal at the Nove Mesto Athletics Meet on July 20 in the same year. She had clocked a timing of 52.09 seconds to complete the 400 m race. She had also won a gold medal in the 200 m race in the Tabor Athletic Meet.
