IndiGo continued to dominate the market, carrying 89.40 lakh passengers and holding a 63.7 per cent market share

India’s domestic air passenger traffic saw an 11.04 per cent increase in February 2024, reaching 140.44 lakh passengers compared to the same month last year, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The total number of passengers flown by Indian airlines in February was recorded at 126.48 lakh.

IndiGo continued to dominate the market, carrying 89.40 lakh passengers and holding a 63.7 per cent market share. Air India Group followed with 38.30 lakh passengers, securing a 27.3 per cent share of the domestic market.

Notably, Air India completed the consolidation of its airline businesses last year, with AIX Connect merging into Air India Express in October and Vistara merging with Air India in November.

Other major carriers, SpiceJet and Akasa Air, carried 6.59 lakh and 4.54 lakh passengers, respectively. Akasa Air held a 4.7 per cent market share, while SpiceJet’s share stood at 3.2 per cent, according to the DGCA data.
